The movie tells the story of a student named Pee Mak, who is unable to raise her tuition fees. When she decides to stand as a candidate in the school elections, she has no idea what's lying ahead of her as she comes face-to-face with everything from blackmail and violence to sweet revenge. The movie ends on a happy note.
"Pee Mak" is a remake of the Korean by director Lee Jai-Kwan. The movie was released during Malaysia's upcomming National Day celebration on 22nd August 2011. It also opened at Macau Mac Cinema, Hong Kong and Singapore cinemas since 17th July 2011 - 9th August 2011 respectively. PEE MAK, goes into politics to pay off her tuition fee debt which is around RM 100,000. The debt was racked up by her father many years ago when she was still studying. But with her current political future locked in the bag, PEE MAK is keen on paying off the remaining debt so she can go back to school. The only problem however is that the balance is now way beyond what she can afford to pay…which puts PEE MAK at a crossroads where she could either walk away with zero money or suffer through life with extra 'extras'. She chooses to fight for her happiness, but has no idea what's lying ahead of her as she comes face-to-face with everything from blackmail and violence to sweet revenge…
Production for this movie started in June 2010, just after the National Day Celebrations. On 27th September 2010, it was announced that the filming had wrapped up. Pre-production for this movie started during 15th September 2010. The production crew invited students from all over Malaysia to be extras so they can have a fresh look on their faces during the shooting part of this movie. The cast of PEE MAK is made up of students from various colleges in Malaysia. This includes a female university student from the UK, a female university student from China and a male student from the US of Korean origin.
